Suspected Kidnapper Arrested During Condolence Visit To One Of His Victim’s Home In Niger

A suspected kidnapper found himself in a precarious situation he was apprehended during a visit to the home of one of his victims in Kontagora Local Government Area, Niger State. According Media24flashnews, the individual, identified as Nasiru Isyaka, was recognized by the victim’s family as he offered his condolences, leading to his arrest.

Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident in a statement released on Sunday. Isyaka, along with his accomplices, had previously committed a violent attack on Sabon-Gari Mangu Matachibu village, resulting in one death and two abductions.

According to the police statement, Isyaka, a resident of the same village, was arrested on January 17, 2025, around 10 a.m. officers from ‘A’ Division Kontagora detained him following the identification during his sympathy visit to a rescued victim.

The attack that led to Isyaka’s capture occurred on December 29, 2024. Armed men invaded the village, resulting in the death of one individual while abducting two others. Thankfully, these hostages were later freed through coordinated security operations that demonstrated the effectiveness of local law enforcement efforts.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that Isyaka was recognized and subsequently arrested while he was at the victim’s residence,” Abiodun explained.

In a search conducted following his arrest, authorities recovered a locally made shotgun from Isyaka, who reportedly confessed to his involvement in the kidnapping incident. The police have since transferred him to their headquarters in Minna for further investigation and preparations for prosecution.
