
Family, Wife Demands Justice As One Police Officer Angrily Shoot Husband To Death
The family of 35-year-old Chikuma in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State, is demanding justice after he was allegedly shot and killed by a police officer. The tragic incident happened on Saturday when the police forcefully entered his apartment.
Media24flashnews gathered that, Chikuma’s wife, heartbroken and in tears, shared how the police stormed their home. She pleaded with them not to shoot, but her cries were ignored.
“One police officer said, ‘Fire him, shoot him down.’ I begged, ‘Sir, please don’t shoot. We will settle this matter peacefully. Please, for the sake of my babies, don’t shoot.’ But they fired the gun,” she recounted.
After shooting Chikuma, the officers allegedly stole valuable items from their home. His wife revealed that they took almost #300,000, which her husband had planned to use to start a business for her. They also collected phones, including hers, her husband’s, and others that were charging while the generator was on. Even their children’s tablets were taken.
Chikuma’s family is devastated. His sister described him as a hardworking businessman and land agent. His brother insisted they would not remain silent.
“You can’t just wear a uniform, take a gun, and shoot whoever you want. Human beings are not animals. We will ask for justice,” he said.
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed that the officer responsible has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing.
