“Gov. Uzodimma Spent 1.5 Billion Naira To Import Hybrid Rabbits From Kosovo” — Govt. House Source
An anonymous source who do not want her name in print has hinted to StereoExpress that the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Sen. Hope Uzodimma Spent the sum of 1.5 Billion Naira To Import special species of rabbits from Kosovo.
She also said that the 1.5 Billion Naira was for the money already released for the youths empowerment program in the 2 Billion Naira. While 1.5 Billion Naira was used for importation, the remaining 500 Million Naira was used in procurement the cages which would be donated to the youths.
She said although the program was initiated by the Federal government under the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) for youth farmers, the governor only decided to key into the federal government’s initiatives to provide more hybrid Rabbits for the youths of the state in line with the Governor’s 5000 youths empowerment scheme of which 6 Billion Naira has already been mapped out for.
“Why the governor opted for the Rabbits from Kosovo is because the rabbits are hybrid which is capable of producing up to 12 kits (barbies). The pregnancy period of this rabbit is 28-32 days. Small breeds tend to have four or five kits and larger breeds have eight to 12 kits.” she noted.
She also noted that another reason the governor was keying into the rabbit farming program for the youths and especially these special ones from Kosovo was that these species can make its rearers very happy because of the level of depression amongst the youths. She believes it could curb depression amongst the youths.
“This particular species from Kosovo, at the point when they are very happy, it communicates its joy by jumping very high, twisting and flicking its feet and head. This movement is known as a binky and they can enliven the moods of the youths” she said.
