Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna central district, has revealed the advice he gave to a male National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.
Sani, 54, a human rights activist, tweeted on Monday that the NYSC member who is serving in Kaduna state had asked him who to propose between two of his girlfriends: one a female soldier and the other an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The former federal lawmaker said he advised the young man to opt for the NSCDC personnel, in view of the recent development in the country.
“A youth corper serving in Kaduna asked for my advice between proposing to a Soldier or a Civil Defence girlfriend of his, I advised him just to go for the latter;in view of the situation at hand,” Sani tweeted.
As you might be aware, a female soldier is on the verge of being punished after she accepted a marriage proposal from a male corper at an NYSC Orientation camp in Kwara state.
The Nigerian Army said the female soldier’s action amounted to taking advantage of her trainee and accused her of indulging in an amorous relationship with him.
It also said she erred when she indulged in romance while in military uniform.
According to the Army, a personnel must have served for three years before he/she can qualify for marriage.
